July 2001
So instead of giving into that
temptation, we opted to take a walk
around Rome, or at least the
immediate vicinity of the Hotel.
Our walk ended up to be the
better part of two miles, one way, and we
ended up at the Spanish Steps.
We climbed to the top step,
sat down and soaked in the lovely
view.
Hundreds of people milling about.
Artists, lovers, workers, small
and large vehicles woven among single
horse drawn carriages. Balconys
with dozens of potted flowering
plants and small trees on each
floor. Music coming from some unknown
open window.
Were we on a movie set?
Was this for real?
Yes it was...
We were in Italy!!
And from that moment on, we knew this was going to be a special trip.
We visited Rome, Florence, Piza,
Venice, Assisi
and a few small villages along
the way...
Each one more romantic than
the other.
By the way. Romantic?
It is dirived from two words
Rome and Antique
